Reader,
I've always believed in this quote “it’s not what you say, but how you say it”. But yesterday morning: I was sitting in my living room couch by myself & came to this realization that this quote is NOT really true. 95% coaches use it to emphasize the importance of delivery But it’s misleading. Big time. You see… what it means that all that matters is: - your tone of voice - body language - eye contact - energy - pacing That’s it. Nothing else really matters. BUT wait… what about: - your message & ideas: the thing you’ve earned the right to talk about? - intros to hook attention before presenting your ideas? - stories to make ideas relevant to the audience? - words to make your ideas come to life? - metaphors to make ideas memorable? - analogies to make ideas relatable? - structure to organise your ideas? - examples to simplify your ideas? - data to support your ideas? And if we subtract WHO & WHAT from presentations/ talks, what are we really left with? FLUFF! Yeah, pure fluff. So the right ingredients for a “memorable” presentation are: WHO says it. WHAT you say. HOW you say it. All of it matters!
